I have a question I'd like to ask all you ladies (especially those 40 and over) out there. This is for a sidebar I'd like to include with my article for Today's Christian Woman.
The question is simple:
What do you do to keep the romantic fire stoked at home?
The shorter and more creative, the better. Examples could be working out together, date nights, always finding the humor in things, never running out of toilet paper, etc.
If you have a comment, please include only your first name, age, city, and state. If uncomfortable leaving that info, lease your email address and I'll contact you.

I'm not over 40, yet, and this is the first time I haven't been happy about that fact!
:)
Doing the unexpected. Surprises always grab hubby's attention.
I may not count though since I live in Canada and we have provinces.

We've only been together a year and a half so this probably isn't worth much but I think date nights are important. Just having a reason to get dressed up for each other and spend time just the two of you. Especially if you have kids.
During the summer my hubby can work 70+ hours a week. If we haven't had enough together-time I'll go out of my way to get all of the chores done (I take out trash, fix door knobs, mow the lawn). When he gets home he can focus on me instead of a honey-do list.
I try to make him laugh. And then, when his giggle dies down, I tell him how cute he is.
I think (after 18 years of marriage) we can sometimes to say, "you're hot".
I meant to say "we can sometimes FORGET to say, you're hot.
sorry
I'm not over 40, but I'd say humor is a huge part of our marriage. There's lots of things to get annoyed about, and when we can't laugh over our petty annoyances, then I might get worried. :-)
Have fun with your article!
I'm not over 40, but love this question. I make sure to kiss my husband regularly. Not the pecks or the absentminded kisses. The long, body to body, make your mouth swollen kisses.
Also, I think showing appreciation for what the other is important too. We may do the dishes or take out the trash every day, but it's still nice to hear a thank you for it.
these are great ideas, ladies! keep em coming! :)
46, but keeping the fire stoked is not a function of age. More about wisdom and the condition of the heart, me thinks. :)
Up til now, we've had an occasional date night, usually a movie or dinner, but we're also usually tired. With kids away this summer for first time, so much enjoyed the time together, in which we weren't dog tired, that I realized we need to make more of an effort. Recently, we've worked out together, kickboxing, the gym, and walking along the waterfront. Cooked together. Gone to the mall. Basically, time spent enjoying activities together.
joyce - leave me your age!
