My Data Is...

Praise the Lord! I was on the phone calling these places where you send you hard drive off to and they take it into this medically clean and sealed room wearing masks and suits and actually take the disk out of the drive and put it in another hard drive to access your data. I was getting quotes anywhere from $1600 to $2500.

Then I decided to see what my little town in North Mississippi had in the way of computer experts. I went online and called a guy, but turned out he only worked on PCs. He referred me to the University of Mississippi (which has an authorized Apple store ON CAMPUS - how's that for mean, progressive?) and a guy there who works only on Macs.

I gave him a call and went on campus with my defective hard drive, my MacBook with the newly replaced hard drive, and a jump drive. The man's office was literally in a basement. There were pipes overhead that I had to duck under to get to his joke. I was looking for a red Swingline stapler down there! HA! (That was for all of you Office Space fans...)

I became intimately acquainted with the above screen...and over one hour later, I came away with what we thought was almost all of my latest WIP (minus 2 chapters that were severely damaged) and all my other books and writing helps. It wasn't until I got home that I realized I had those two chapters, as well....saved somewhere else on the same hard drive!

The best part of this is that I only paid $30! Can you believe that? And I didn't have to send my hard drive off...I was right in my hometown. God is so awesome....and I wanted to share my good news with all of you. I know my writing community will understand when I tell you I broke down in tears when I saw all of my folders on this guy's computer. Just blubbering. :)

Now, I'm waiting on God to make my path clear for which job he wants me to have. And I know He stay tuned for an update on how all that unfolds! Thanks so much for your prayers regarding my computer situation.

If you are interested in a place to get 2 GB of FREE online storage (which, of course, I'm going to start utilizing immediately)...go to the website below.

Alright...will let you know more when I know more! Blessings to you this weekend!

Woo-hoo! I have two hard drives that need to be recovered. I just haven't had the time or energy to attend to them, in part because I got the same kind of crazy quotes you did.

Think I'll look around locally and see what I can come up with...

Just discovered your blog and I'm enjoying my visit to it.

I'm a Christian writer who is addicted to cats as you can see by looking at past posts on my blog.

Having literally burned up my hard drive, I can appreciate your computer experience! Glad to hear that God blessed you with the right help, in the right place at the right time! He's awesome!

My husband is from Mississippi and has relatives in Collins and Hattisburg. I enjoy visiting there.
